FAQs
Travelling with Pets
Yes! All pets travel in the cabin by your side. Our pet-dedicated flights are designed for a stress-free experience flying with pets. Dogs travel without a crate whereas cats must travel in a soft-sided carrier, measuring 17 inches wide by 21 inches long.
You can fly with your dog in the cabin of a private jet by booking a seat with K9 JETS, the original pay-by-seat private jet service dedicated to pet travel. Unlike commercial airlines that require dogs to travel in cargo, K9 JETS allows your dog or cat to remain by your side throughout the entire flight, making international travel with pets easy and stress-free.
Step 1: Book Your Private Jet Seat
Choose your preferred route, such as London to New Jersey, London to Dubai, or Paris to New Jersey, and reserve your seat online. You only pay for your seat rather than chartering the entire aircraft.
Step 2: Provide Your Dog’s Details
During booking, you’ll enter your dog’s breed, weight, temperament, and any additional information we should know. This helps us create a safe and comfortable seating plan for all pets travelling in cabin.
Step 3: Prepare International Pet Travel Documents
For international private jet travel with your dog, you’ll need the correct documentation, which varies on the route you are flying. Our team provides guidance on pet documentation requirements.
Step 4: Arrive at the Private Terminal
On departure day, arrive between 60 – 90 minutes before take-off at the private jet terminal. There are no long queues, no cargo drop off, and no separation from your pet.
Step 5: Fly Together in Cabin
Your dog sits beside you during the flight, secured safely on a short leash. There are no crates in the hold and no cargo transport. You travel together from departure to arrival.
K9 JETS specialises in international private jet travel with dogs and cats, helping families relocate or travel abroad without the stress of cargo transport.
No. We are feline friendly too and can also accommodate other small domestic pets (rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, geckos, birds to name a few), but these are subject to the destination country you are travelling to.
Absolutely. We offer pet friendly flights that are feline friendly. Cats must remain in a soft-sided carrier for the entire journey.
Carriers must be soft-sided, and fit within our seat dimensions – 17 inches wide by 21 inches long.
You will need to meet the destination country’s pet entry requirements, which typically includes a working microchip, valid rabies vaccination, and endorsed health certificate, plus anti-parasite treatment depending on the destination. More information on international pet transport can be found under the pet documentation section of our website – click here
Yes, you can fly your dog to the UK with K9 JETS, and there is no standard quarantine in the UK provided your dog meets the UK pet travel requirements.
Many pet owners mistakenly believe dogs must complete quarantine when entering the United Kingdom. In reality, the UK Pet Travel Scheme allows dogs to enter without quarantine as long as the correct documentation and vaccinations are in place
No. Quarantine is not required, provided your pet meets the entry requirements – for travel to Portugal, the UK and UAE, pet documentation is pre-approved before departure.
One seat purchased allows either one pet over 51lb, or two pets that weigh less than 50lb each.
Absolutely. We understand that every pet is unique and has individual needs and many anxious and reactive pets have successfully travelled with us. We recommend discussing your travel plans with your Vet who may prescribe calming medication, or suggest alternative options such as herbal remedies, calming jackets, blankets, eye masks, earmuffs etc.
Prior to boarding, there is a socialisation period of approximately an hour, which allows pets to become familiar with each other and ensures a calm and relaxed experience onboard.
We create a seating plan based upon the temperaments of the pets onboard and ensure anxious or reactive pets are seated in the most suitable space to help keep them calm and comfortable.
All dogs must travel with a muzzle, but this would only be used in the event of aggressive behavior being displayed.
K9 JETS does not have restrictions on breeds, however pets must comply with the restrictions imposed by the destination country
Travelling with your Pet
Most destinations have strict regulations that do not allow meat or dairy products to enter the country, and this includes pet food (dry, wet and frozen). We suggest that you arrange food to be available at your destination.
No. We don’t allow feeding onboard as this increases the need for toileting inflight and causes bloating which can be painful and uncomfortable.
You can bring a small amount of treats or a chew, but feeding a meal onboard isn’t permitted and only sips of water to remain hydrated.
On the day of travel we recommend the last meal is given no less than 6hrs before departure and water intake is reduced.
Yes, we allow a small quantity of treats and chews to be consumed onboard, but feeding a meal onboard is not permitted.
Dogs
Dogs wear a harness and lead or leash at all times and must travel with a muzzle. The muzzle is only a precaution for safeguarding and is not required to be worn unless there is aggressive behavior. We also require that dogs travel with a pet blanket to protect the aircraft and provide them with extra comfort and familiarity. If they have a favourite soft toy, they are welcome to bring this too – we’ve seen many cuddly bears, frogs, pigs and the odd vegetable!
Dog beds are not permitted as they restrict space in the cabin.
Cats
Must travel in a soft-sided carrier, measuring 17 inches wide by 21 inches long.
Litter trays are not provided, but you are welcome to bring one with you, which you can use in the onboard restroom. We just ask that you ensure the restroom is left clean and tidy afterwards.
We recommend a cage or basket style muzzle (soft or hard) which allows for free breathing and panting which is important to regulate temperature. For snub-nosed breeds, there are several mesh style muzzles available, which allow for free breathing and panting.
Yes. We require ashes to be in a sealed container and stowed in your checked baggage (hold baggage). You will also need to carry a cremation certificate for customs purposes. Please inform us in advance if you will be travelling with ashes.
Baggage Allowance & Seat Policy
Each seat includes 30kg (66lb) of checked baggage, which can be split across a maximum of two bags. Additional baggage cannot be purchased, and overweight bags may be offloaded.
In addition to checked baggage, each seat purchased permits one small carry-on item similar in size to a purse / handbag or laptop bag for inflight essentials. There is no overhead or under seat stowage in the cabin, so oversized bags and roller bags are not permitted.
We only permit children aged seven years and above and they must be accompanied by an adult. Minors aged 16-18 years old will need a letter of consent from their parents or guardians to travel alone and must be able to control and muzzle their dog if required.
Yes, every human passenger must have their own seat, and you can travel without a pet.
No, but if you’d like to purchase a seat for your pet, you are welcome to do so.
Dogs will sit or lie by their owner’s side in the cabin, or they can sit in your lap if you prefer. Cats in their carriers will be stowed off the floor after take-off and the arrangements for the carriers will be detailed on the seating plan
No, all pets must be accompanied by a person. If the owner cannot travel, they may appoint someone they trust to travel on their behalf and will need to provide a letter of consent.
No, K9 JETS does not provide pet nannies or pet concierge services to travel with your dog.
Our model is designed for owners who want to fly together with their pet in the cabin of a private jet. We do not transport pets unaccompanied, and we do not provide third party handlers to travel in place of the owner.
Flight Experience & Etiquette
All flights depart from (and arrive into) private terminals, which offer a comfortable space to relax in, with no queues for check-in, security or boarding. The process is very simple and upon arrival at the terminal you’ll be guided by our Customer Experience Representatives.
The details of your assigned departure (and arrival) terminals will be included in your Flight Brief and will be issued five weeks before departure.
Arrive between 60 – 90 minutes before departure. This ensures sufficient time for check-in and pet socialisation which is coordinated by our Customer Experience Representatives.
Five weeks before departure you will receive an invitation to join a group, pre-flight briefing which takes place online. The session will talk you through the departure and arrival process, and everything in between, and will also give you an opportunity to meet your fellow passengers.
You can of course contact us any time, at booking@k9jets.com if you have any questions.
Every flight has a fully stocked bar offering alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, water, tea and coffee and a variety of snacks which are complimentary.
In addition, we offer an in-flight meal service, which differs for each destination.
If you have any allergies, or dietary preferences please let us know and we’ll ensure these are accommodated.
Only a limited number of the aircraft we charter have WiFi available and there is no onboard entertainment system available, so we recommend downloading movies, music, reading materials to your personal devices before your fly. As the flight is shared, we do ask everyone to be respectful of their fellow passengers and if using a personal device, please ensure headphones/ear buds are used and be mindful that some guests may wish to sleep.
No, as this is a shared flight the seats do not lie flat and there is no option to set up a bed, but some seats offer a gentle recline and a footrest. All seats are padded leather.
No. For safety, dogs must remain on leash, next to their owners at all times. Leashes will be securely tethered to the owner’s seatbelt for the duration of the flight.
No, but every flight has a supply of puppy pads. We respectfully ask that dogs are fed no less than six hours before departure and water intake is reduced. For cats, you are welcome to bring a litter tray with you, which you can use in the onboard restroom. We just ask that you ensure the restroom is left clean and tidy afterwards.
You are welcome to let us know your seating preferences, however these are not guaranteed. We assign seating based on a number of factors such as breed, size and temperament to ensure safety and comfort. On the day of departure, we may need to adjust the seating if there is an aircraft change or if there are any noticeable behaviour issues during the socialisation period, so despite being pre-assigned a seat, this can be subject to change.
Prior to boarding our Customer Experience Representatives will monitor the socialisation period and adjust the seating arrangements if there appears to be noticeable behaviour issues. If you have any concerns before boarding please talk to our representatives who will be happy to help, and if you’re uncomfortable inflight please let the Flight Attendant know who will assist you.
Booking, Payment & Cancellations
All reservations are made online and the process consists of three easy steps. The first step is to provide the name and contact email address for the passenger. The second step requires basic information of your pet, and the third step is payment, and the acceptance of the terms and conditions of our Participant Agreement. We do not require any pet documentation at the booking stage.
Payments are taken online, at the time of booking. We accept credit cards, including Amex and wire/ACH transfers. We allow up to 72 hours (three business days) for wire/ACH payments to arrive.
No. All flights are listed as one-way and there is no requirement to book a return flight (although, we’d be delighted to see you again!)
Over 95% of all K9 JETS flights have operated since we launched in March 2023.
When we reach a minimum seat capacity threshold of 75% and no later than 28 days before departure. Most flights operate as a two-leg trip (i.e. a linked outbound and inbound flight) and in this instance the 75% seat capacity is based upon combined sales.
For our core routes, which are the most popular, we may confirm a flight is operating before achieving the minimum seat capacity threshold.
Once a flight is confirmed you will receive an automatic notification, outlining the next steps.
In the unlikely event your flight falls below the minimum seat threshold and isn’t able to operate, we’ll notify you no later than 28-days before departure and give you the option to transfer to an alternative flight or opt for a full refund.
As per the terms of our Participant Agreement (link to www.k9jets.com/participant-agreement ) which are agreed to at the time of booking, a refund is only possible if we can resell your seat Once your seat is successfully resold, a full refund will be issued less a $25 processing fee.
We understand the complexities of travelling with pets and realise plans may change. If you provide us with a written notice, 60+ days before departure, we can allow a date transfer without restrictions. For a notice period of less than 60 days we would need to resell your seat first and this would be on a case-by-case basis. All date transfers are subject to availability.
Yes, please email booking@k9jets.com who will assist you through the process. Name changes require a minimum of five days’ notice, and the new passenger must have valid travel documents to enter the destination country.
You can join our waitlist and will be contacted if a seat becomes available.
The ATOL scheme is run by the UK Civil Aviation Authority and protects your funds upon booking when departing from the UK. K9 JETS is the only pay-by-seat service to offer this protection for customers departing from the UK.
